Dear friends, collectors, and fellow travelers of life,
I am excited to share with you my upcoming journey—a 40-day artistic pilgrimage along the historic Camino de Santiago in Spain. This summer, beginning in mid-July, I will embark from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France and walk approximately 800 kilometers to Santiago de Compostela, creating a new watercolor painting each day along the way.
A Journey of Artistic Discovery
For many years, I have been drawn to the Camino—not just as a physical path, but as a spiritual journey that has inspired countless pilgrims for over a thousand years. After a brief visit with my family earlier this year, I felt a profound calling to return and experience the full pilgrimage, capturing its landscapes, emotions, and encounters through my brush.
As I walk with my painting supplies in my backpack, I will create daily works that document both the external world of the Spanish countryside and the internal landscape of reflection and transformation that the Camino inevitably brings.
“I walk with my brush and breathe with color. This journey is more than travel—it is praise, prayer, and presence.”
Camino de Colores: Colors of the Way
To share this journey with you, I’ve created a special project called “Camino de Colores” (Colors of the Way). Through this initiative, I invite you to become part of this pilgrimage by supporting the journey and, in return, receiving original watercolors painted along the path.
Visit camino.ouchulhwang.com to follow my progress, read daily journal entries, see the paintings created each day, and—if you feel moved to do so—support this artistic and spiritual undertaking.
Support the Journey
As an independent artist, I am seeking sponsorship for this journey. Your support will cover accommodations along the route, art supplies, meals, and other pilgrim necessities. In gratitude for your contribution, I will create original watercolors specifically for those who support this project.
There are three levels of support available:
- Tier 1: $300 – Receive 1 original watercolor/Artist Signed
- Tier 2: $500 – Receive 2 original watercolors/Artist Signed
- Tier 3: $1,000 – Receive 5 original watercolors/Artist Signed
With your support, I will carry your heart in each painting, and return it as light—through the footprints of art.
Why the Camino?
In our increasingly digital and distracted world, the Camino offers a rare opportunity to slow down, to be present with each step, each breath, and each brushstroke. As both a Korean artist educated internationally and a human navigating the complexities of modern life, I see this journey as a chance to connect the spiritual traditions of East and West through art.
The paintings created during this pilgrimage will form a visual diary of the physical journey, but also of the interior path we all walk in our own ways. They will capture not just the landscapes of northern Spain, but the universal human experience of seeking, questioning, and discovering.
I invite you to walk alongside me—whether physically through your support, or spiritually through following my journey online.
With gratitude and anticipation,
